Mixed Media Canvas Layout Tutorial for Beginners

Take a Fine Arts board Canvas

Apply a thin coat of texture white to make it shining bright

There comes the darling Tim Holtz...I mean his stencil, place it over the canvas and apply some gesso with the help of a spatula, make random texture..Symmetry is ultimate evil of art..!! well thts my own discovery :) :)

Now is the time to dry off the textures..you may use a hair dryer or even a heat gun is perfect..

Take another stencil and apply some gesso here n there

So this is how its gonna look once dried

Take out your Lindy’s Stamp Gang Sprays, it’s time to play with the colors

Spray some Pink and Golden color

Add a dash of black too and make sure to dab it continuously with a paper towel to take off the excess color

Now take out some die cuts and apply the black archival ink covering the edges...remember to keep it random

So..it’s the time to prepare the main tag of the this layout, take out your favourite shades of distress ink and blob them on the acrylic block and place the tag over this block...i’ve used picked raspberry and peacock feathers here..!!

This is how it’ll look, spray some Lindy’s golden color too

Time to blend some pink ink around the corners to give it a complete look

There you go...

Now take a clear stamp of your choice..be it a quote or flourish, upto you..

Place it on the acrylic board and apply Archival ink very neatly

There...stamp it on the tag

It’s done :) :)

Now start pasting the embellishments, let’s start with the die cut for corner

Here i’ve used the oval die cut to place under the main tag and some floral embellishments around it

See i’ve not even left the tiny parts of oval die cut...so basically whatever you find suitable for you your art work...just place it over, that’s all mixed media is all about :)

Now some drops here and there of the beautiful liquid pearls

There you go...its all set to gild your walls...thank you for watching, hope you all enjoyed. C ya with another tutorial.
